Blue&Me™ Nav Brings Fiat Drivers Safely to Their Destinations
Navigation solution from Elektrobit Automotive Software and Microsoft celebrates premiere in the Fiat Bravo.

Erlangen, April 17, 2007 - After the successful launch of Blue&Me™ at the Autosalon Geneva last year, Fiat is now bringing the next generation of the infotainment system with Blue&Me™ Nav into the market. The Italian car manufacturer has developed the system together with Microsoft and Elektrobit Automotive Software. The follow-up system of Blue&Me now also integrates a hands-free navigation solution with intuitive graphic interface and voice control on the basis of Windows Mobile for Automotive, also including a Bluetooth hands-free car kit for mobile phones with voice control, MP3 and WMA supported music features as well as an SMS-reader. The convincing navigation offers a text-to-speech function in eight different languages and makes use of roadmap material from Navteq. The destination input is possible by voice command as well – even when the system is currently playing music. The route calculation of the system, supplied via a USB port with map information, data and music, takes place in real-time.

Blue&Me™ Nav will also support infotelematics services and therewith turn over a new leaf for Fiat. The first telematics offers are expected to be available in Italy during the course of this year. Following this, other European countries will be able to profit from emergency and locating services, as well as information services.

The use of the Windows Mobile platform makes the system independent, so that it can be used in different types of cars. Blue&Me™ Nav supports a number of common mobile phone types. For the future, the Fiat, Microsoft, and Elektrobit plan other functions, such as fleet services for large companies, pro-active car maintenance, or navigation without stored roadmaps.
