Elektrobit Testing Ltd. Introduces A New Test Solution for Optimising And Verifying The Performance of 2/2.5/3/3.5G Wireless Networks And Terminals
The new solution, Propsim WNOP (Wireless Network Optimisation and Performance test solution), helps operators and network developers to test their systems against live network conditions in an accurate, highly controllable and repeatable lab environment.

Propsim WNOP is based on NEMO Technologies' Outdoor/Indoor measurement tool and Propsim radio channel emulator, both products of companies that are part of the Elektrobit Group. The solution introduces typical drive test measurements to the laboratory and enables the playing back of field measurements in an air inter-face emulation platform that introduces real-world channel impairment effects, such as multi-path fading, noise and interference, to testing.

This solution provides operators and network vendors with an advanced, easy-to-use platform for testing network settings, control algorithms and parameters affecting QoS, as well as the effects of changes in BTS or BTS SW versions on performance.

Propsim WNOP allows realistic and repeatable IOT – testing, terminal equipment benchmarking and evaluation. For example, comparison of data rates between different terminals is easy to perform with 100% repeatability. Evaluation of applications critically affected by transmission link performance can also be performed. For example, video call or video download performance between different user equipment and technologies can be evaluated against realistic, live network scenarios.

Testing in the laboratory enables users to configure/change their network equipment, mobiles and network parameters in order to characterise the differences and performance effects of such changes. Propsim WNOP emulates measured wireless network conditions in the lab, enabling repeatability and control of all interference behaviour that are typical, out-of-control random effects in field testing. The solution also gives repeatable means for testing the performance and QoS gain perceived by tuning network parameters, such as handover thresholds and timing.

Lab tests performed without realistic air-interface emulation may give overly optimistic results and do not reflect the behaviour seen in live net-works. On the other hand, field-testing restricts the possibility of changing settings/equipment used in live networks because network downtime is perceived as low service quality and service interruptions by customers.

Elektrobit Testing Ltd provides advanced test solutions for R&D, production and optimisation of wireless networks and equipment. Propsim WNOP is based on proven Elektrobit Testing products and is available from Elektrobit Testing Ltd. Inquiries can be directed to rcpsales@elektrobit.com or via mobile phone +358-40-344 2000.
