Satellite-Terrestrial Connectivity Module Proof-of-Concept
Wireless connectivity beyond cellular coverage.
Enhance your applications with ubiquitous data communications using satellite and terrestrial networks. Enable next generation broadband mobile IP services and applications in your devices. With the Connectivity Module end-users gain greater IP access capabilities, including access to the Internet, even outside traditional cellular coverage.
EB's Connectivity Module concept encapsulates the core wireless modem functionality required to offer services on packet based satellite and HSPA/3G cellular networks. The characteristics of the satellite-terrestrial Connectivity Module concept can be tailored for unique customer requirements; allowing it to be easily integrated into existing applications or configured for satellite-only applications. The current prototype is capable of operating on both S-band satellite networks, such as the one built by TerreStar Networks, as well as on existing commercial 3/3.5G HSPA networks, as offered by AT&T, T-Mobile, Vodafone, Orange, among others.
The concept's form factor and functionality can be customized to meet partner's and end-customers' specific requirements, including:
- Machine-to-Machine (M2M): As a stand-alone device the Connectivity Module can be integrated into a solution where remote monitoring, control or data collection is required - in construction, field services, operations, medical and military applications, to name a few.
- Vehicular: The Connectivity Module integrated into a vehicle provides ubiquitous broadband connectivity to enable exciting new front and rear seat infotainment applications and services.
- Maritime/Boating: The Connectivity Module enables the satellite-terrestrial network to become the backhaul connectivity in coastal applications for example for WiFi HotSpot coverage on boats.
- Land Mobile Radio (LMR): The Connectivity Module can be integrated into LMR handsets or terminals to offer true wireless broadband IP coverage for first responders, public safety & security and similar solutions.
Main Benefits
- Enable ubiquitous wireless coverage for broadband applications
