EB Automotive Software Newsletter -
Issue 04/2009
August 11, 2009
Dear Subscriber,
Welcome to the summer edition of the EB Automotive Software newsletter.
I'm pleased to have started as new CEO of EB since June. During the last 3 years I have been actively participating in the management of EB, including the EB Automotive Software business, as member of the board of directors. Before that I have been working in EB as COO and head of business development, and was deeply involved in establishing the automotive software business in EB.
The global economic situation is currently impacting all of us. While EB has taken measures to adjust its operations to the weakened demand, we will continue to drive our strategy for Automotive Software with significant investments in new releases for ECU and Infotainment products. EB wishes to continue strengthening our position as an innovative and reliable partner that provides solutions that create new business opportunities to our customers.
The cornerstones of EB's infotainment offering are Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) and Navigation. The HMI software EB GUIDE recently has been enhanced with many new features that enable significant productivity gains and cost savings in HMI development. You can read more about this in this newsletter. Read also about some examples of the white-label navigation software EB street director. Its latest releases support 3D map displays and online connectivity, so that the navigation solution seamlessly integrates with internet services like Google or Microsoft Bing (Live Search for Devices). As you will be able to read in this newsletter both of EB's infotainment products are designed to support all relevant platforms of the automotive industry.
Have fun reading and have a great summer!
Sincerely yours,
Jukka Harju

EB and RTT present: Full Operating Functionality in the Virtual Prototype
Together with the
Realtime Technology AG (RTT) EB (Elektrobit) introduces a connecting link between the RTT DeltaGen 3D realtime visualization and the EB GUIDE Studio HMI development tool to the market. With the demonstration of automotive prototypes, the HMI solution can now be experienced directly in virtual space: The head-tracking goggles and controller enable a true-to-life simulation of the car, the HMI representation responds to user inputs as in realtime, and even the controls can be tried out in the virtual world. With the new plug-in, HMI inputs can be realistically investigated in the environment in which they will later be made in a real environment - namely in a car under live conditions.

EB Expands Support for Microsoft Auto platform
Demonstrated at EB's exhibit at the 9th annual Telematics Detroit 2009 conference (June 2nd-3rd at the Rock Financial Showplace in Novi), Microsoft Bing enables Internet-based searches through a mobile device.
EB street director navigation technology converts search results into routable destinations that are plotted directly onto a navigation map. Using a wireless link such as a Bluetooth-connected cell phone, Microsoft's Bing combined with EB's software solution provides an integrated Internet-connected navigation system for use in cars and light trucks, according to Artur Seidel, vice president of EB's Automotive Software Business for the Americas.
